January on the Flower Farm

A Frosty Start to a Promising Year

January on our British flower farm has been a month of contrasts. The frost may have halted some of our outdoor activities, but it also transformed the landscape into a breathtaking winter wonderland. The fields, blanketed in a delicate layer of frost, glistened in the morning light, creating a serene and picturesque scene.

Despite the chilly weather, life on the farm continues to thrive. Our seedlings are growing well in the tunnel, protected from the harsh elements. It's heartening to see these young plants making steady progress, promising a vibrant and colourful season ahead.

We've also begun laying out the Pick-Your-Own (PYO) area. This is an exciting development for us, as we prepare to welcome visitors who can enjoy the experience of selecting their own flowers. The layout is coming together nicely, and we can't wait to see it in full bloom.

All the plants we moved from the old farm are now comfortably settled in the barn. They seem to be adjusting well to their new environment, and it's a relief to know they are safe and thriving.

In a delightful sign of the approaching spring, the first tulips, daffodils and hellebores are starting to emerge. These early blooms are a welcome sight, adding a splash of colour to the winter landscape and reminding us that warmer days are on the horizon.

Looking ahead, our next big tasks include installing rabbit fencing and setting up the irrigation system. These are crucial steps to ensure the health and safety of our plants as they continue to grow.

As we embrace the beauty of January's frost and the promise of new growth, we are filled with optimism for the year ahead. Stay tuned for more updates from the farm as we journey through the seasons together.
