Get to know this Leicestershire florist

Hello reader, thanks for joining me!

I've been meaning to keep a journal of all the things I get up to in the crazy world of weddings since I started my business 7 years ago. It's just been one of those things that's never happened but with all the new ventures The Leicestershire Flower Farm is delving into I thought now was as good a time as any to bring you along for the ride.

What am I talking about? Well September last year I took over a rather neglected 1 acre flower farm, 5 minuets from my house. So now I not only arrange flowers for weddings and events but I'll also be growing them! A super exciting if not terrifying adventure!

This journal will be full of day to day life on the farm and my time in the studio working on all the beautiful weddings and events I am lucky to be part of. Interspersed with advice, whether you are in the process of planning you wedding or are a budding grower or florist yourself.

Who is this Leicestershire florist?

I was born in Yorkshire and raised between Johannesburg in South Africa and Ascot, Berkshire. I came to Nottingham to study Art History and just never left. I've now lived in the East Midlands for as long as I've lived anywhere else. We (husband, 2x children, dog and cat) moved to the beautiful Leicestershire Wolds 3 years ago and now I can't imagine living anywhere else.

The Leicestershire Flower Farm really came about unexpectedly. Most of my career I have been a visual merchandiser or worked in various management roles. Floristry just wasn't on the radar until a friend at the time (knowing I'm a keen gardener and I guess my creative background) asked if I would help her do her wedding flowers. From then it just snowballed and before I had even done one wedding I had 5 booked.

Confronted with the terrifying reality that I would have to actually flower these very important days I thought I better go and get some sort of formal training. So I booked myself onto a Tallulah Rose Flower School course to learn the basics.

From the first day at Tahulla Rose Flower School I knew this was what I wanted to do and The Leicestershire Flower Farm was born.
